What Office Layout is Right For Your Business?

Whether you are opening a new business or are a long time business owner, creating the perfect working environment for your employees is essential to your business’ success. A good work environment helps your employees thrive, keeps morale up, and makes your employees feel at home. The most significant part of a work environment is the office layout. There are a few different office layout design choices one can make when discussing with office planners. Today, let’s look at a few common ones.

Closed Office Layout

Closed office layouts are an old, traditional office style. Workers are given private spaces that often differ in size, window space, and location. These private spaces are also typically given out based on rank within the company. This is the first benefit of this style. Because higher-ranking employees are given more luxurious offices, employees will have a tangible goal, more than just working for the money. Secondly, these offices usually offer a great deal of privacy. This allows employees to work free of distractions from other employees or the hustle and bustle of the work environment. On the other hand, closed office layouts are typically built into the office building or floor and require major construction if one decides to change things up.

Cubicle Farm

Similar to the closed office layout, a cubicle office layout consists of private spaces for your employees. However, they are not built into the office build and instead usually consist of movable walls or half walls. This provides a moderate amount of privacy without completely sectioning off each employee. The height of the cubicle walls is the most distinguishing factor of this office layout from others. Full walls can give a private closed office feel with more privacy. Half walls can give some more collaboration benefits for employees at the cost of privacy and noise reduction.

The Open Office

A modern and trending office layout, open offices are made simply of desks organized in some fashion without any walls or barriers in between, at most efficient. It excels at giving employees an area for collaboration. Due to the lack of space separators, noise and distractions are the main disadvantages many companies come to find out about this layout design.
